Point Cook Seniors Festival: Local October Events and Booking Details

Point Cook residents have several local ways to take part in this year's Seniors Festival, from painting and garden craft to dancing and social sport. The activities are spread across community centres rather than held at one venue, so the useful first step is choosing a session and checking how to join it.

The October program also offers different levels of commitment. Some activities are single workshops, while others meet each week. That makes the local calendar useful for someone trying a new activity as well as someone looking for a regular group.

The Point Cook dates at a glance

Wyndham City's current event pages list activities at Featherbrook, Saltwater, Jamieson Way and the Point Cook Community Learning Centre. The table groups the dated sessions by the decision a visitor needs to make: where to go, what it costs and whether to book.

Session Local details
Blossoms Above the Bay, 6 October Featherbrook, 11am to 1pm; $2, pay on the day
Seniors Social Sports, Thursdays in October Jamieson Way, 9:30am to 11:30am; free, registration essential
Dance through Decades, 8 October Saltwater, 10am to 11:30am; free, booking required
Garden Craft Workshop, 8 October Point Cook Community Learning Centre, 11am to 1pm; free, booking required
Blooming Dot Art, 14 October Featherbrook, 11am to 1pm; $2, pay on the day
Totes of Creativity, 28 October Featherbrook, 11am to 1pm; $2, pay on the day

These are separate events, not a single booking covering the month. The two Thursday sessions on 8 October also overlap, so residents should not plan to attend both in full. Check the organiser's page shortly before travelling because places and arrangements can change.

Three different art sessions at Featherbrook

Featherbrook Community Centre has scheduled three workshops with local artist Raman. The first, Blossoms Above the Bay, is an oil painting session on Tuesday 6 October. Wyndham City lists the venue as 33 to 35 Windorah Drive and the cost as $2, payable on the day.

The following week brings Blooming Dot Art on Wednesday 14 October. Its focus is a floral artwork made through colour and pattern. The council listing again gives an 11am to 1pm session and a $2 payment on the day.

The final Totes of Creativity workshop on Wednesday 28 October has a different practical result: participants decorate a reusable tote bag. It runs at the same Featherbrook address and time, with the same listed charge.

Those differences matter when choosing a date. One session centres on oil painting, another on dot painting and the last on a bag that can be used afterwards. The council pages do not state that one workshop must be completed before another, so residents can ask Featherbrook directly about the session that interests them.

For local centre locations beyond this festival, Point Cook Local's amenities page provides broader context. It is useful for planning a visit, while the current Wyndham event listing remains the authority for each workshop's time and cost.

Dance, garden craft and a weekly sport option

Saltwater Community Centre's Dance through Decades is a one-off morning on Thursday 8 October. The official listing gives 10am to 11:30am at 153 Saltwater Promenade. Entry is free, places are limited and booking is required. It also tells visitors to wear comfortable shoes and bring a drink bottle; morning tea is planned.

At 11am that day, the Point Cook Community Learning Centre starts its Garden Craft Workshop. The council says the local Bunnings team will guide participants in making a bird bath and water feeder. Materials are provided, a complimentary lunch follows, and bookings are essential because places are limited.

The Cheetham Street workshop ends at 1pm, while the Saltwater dance ends at 11:30am. Although both are in Point Cook, their overlap makes it wiser to choose one as the main event. Neither organiser promises a place to somebody who arrives partway through without a booking.

For a recurring option, Seniors Social Sports is listed at Jamieson Way Community Centre on Thursdays throughout October. The free 9:30am to 11:30am sessions offer table tennis and badminton at 59 Jamieson Way. Registration is essential, and the organiser notes that playing time may be shared when many people attend.

The social sport listing asks participants to bring water and wear comfortable sports shoes. It also confirms accessible toilets on site. Those practical details make it easier to judge whether the session suits a first visit without assuming that every participant will play for the full two hours.

How to choose and confirm a place

The local program is not one uniform festival ticket. Featherbrook lists a small pay-on-the-day charge for its art workshops. Saltwater and the Community Learning Centre list free one-off sessions with bookings, while Jamieson Way requires registration for its free weekly sport.

Use this short checklist before leaving home:

  • Pick one main activity if its time overlaps another session.
  • Open the linked organiser page for the latest date, time, cost and booking instruction.
  • Book or register where the listing requires it; a free event can still have limited places.
  • Check the venue address, especially if visiting more than one Point Cook community centre.
  • Contact the organiser if you need to confirm access arrangements or what to bring.

Residents planning a wider week around these activities can use Point Cook Local's living in Point Cook page for suburb context and its essential contacts page for useful local service details. Neither replaces the organiser's event page for bookings or last-minute changes.

What the local calendar offers

The strongest feature of this Point Cook program is its range: three art projects at Featherbrook, a dance morning at Saltwater, a garden craft workshop on Cheetham Street and weekly table tennis and badminton at Jamieson Way. The venues and joining rules differ enough that one general festival notice would miss useful details.

The earlier Point Cook Term 4 guide covers the wider community program. For October's seniors events, start with the specific organiser link above, confirm your place if required and choose a local activity that fits your date and interests.
