This page sets out how personal information is handled on Point Cook Local Biz, and the terms on which the site is used. It reflects what the site actually does.

Privacy: what is collected

• Business listing details, including those imported from public datasets. For sole traders and small businesses these can include a personal name, phone number or email address, because that is how the business publishes its own contact details.
• Messages sent to the directory: listing submissions, claims, corrections, advertising enquiries and privacy requests, including whatever you include in them.
• Technical data: the site runs on a third party directory platform, which may process basic technical information such as IP address and pages requested in order to operate, secure and protect the site, and may set cookies required for it to function.

Personal information is not sold, and it is not shared for others to market to you.

Privacy: how it is used

To publish and maintain business and property listings, to review submissions and verify claims, to respond to corrections and enquiries, and to keep the site secure and lawful.

Listing pages are public by design and can be indexed by search engines. Do not send personal information you do not want published. If a listing contains personal information that should not be public, ask for it to be corrected or removed and it will be actioned.

Privacy: access, correction and retention

You can ask what personal information the directory holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for a listing about you or your business to be updated or removed. Requests are free and are handled through the routes listed on the Contact page. Listing records are kept while published and for a reasonable period afterwards so that corrections and claims can be handled and records are not re-imported in error. Enquiry and moderation records are kept only as long as needed for the purpose they were collected for, or as required by law.

If you are not satisfied with how a privacy request has been handled, raise it with the directory first so it can be put right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

If analytics or advertising tools are ever enabled, they will be disclosed here before they are used.

Terms: what this site is

Point Cook Local Biz is an independent local directory and suburb information site. It is not affiliated with Wyndham City Council or any government agency, and it is not a real estate agency, legal service, financial adviser or health provider.

Terms: information is general only

Property medians, rents, population figures, service counts and other statistics are published with their source, geography and period, and they change over time. They are general information, not professional advice, and you should verify anything important with the relevant business, agency or authority. No warranty is given that a listing is current, complete or accurate, or that a business offers any particular service.

Terms: listings

• Submissions must be accurate and made by, or with the authority of, the business or property owner.
• Listings may be edited, declined, labelled, unpublished or removed, and publication is not guaranteed.
• Free listings, paid placements and sponsorships are labelled so readers can tell them apart. Paid placement never changes statistics, comparisons or corrections.
• Property advertisements must come from the owner or an authorised agent, must state price or rent as supplied, and must be reviewed or removed when the property is no longer available. Every advertisement carries a review date.
• Reviews and ratings are published only when they can be attributed. Manipulation or misrepresentation is not permitted.

Terms: third party data and content

Statistics and some listing records come from third parties under open licences, including the Australian Bureau of Statistics and other Victorian Government data (CC BY 4.0), Wyndham City Council (CC BY 2.5 AU), ACECQA register data and OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Attribution is recorded on the Sources and Methodology page and in each listing's source note. Use of that third party data must comply with the relevant licence.

Terms: acceptable use, liability and changes

Do not scrape or harvest the site at scale without written permission, interfere with its security or availability, submit spam or misleading content, use it for unlawful purposes, or use another party's identity without authority.

To the extent permitted by law, the directory is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. Nothing here excludes any guarantee or right under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to resupplying the relevant service.
