Point Cook School Holiday Activities: 29 September to 3 October

Point Cook families have several local choices for the second week of the spring school holidays. The library has short creative sessions, Stockland is running five days of food decorating, and other providers have activities for children who want a longer or more active day.

The important difference is how each program admits children. Some are open for drop-in visits, one releases tickets shortly before it starts, and the longer holiday program needs registration. This guide puts the times and conditions together so parents can choose an activity that suits a child's age and their own schedule.

Tuesday: a choice between the library and Treat Town

Wyndham Libraries lists Mindful Doodling at Point Cook Library on Tuesday 29 September. The session runs from 11 am to noon and is for children aged five to 12. The activity centres on patterns found in nature and the process of making art.

It is free, but entry is by ticket collected in the branch half an hour before the session. That makes it different from an online booking: arriving at 11 am may be too late if the available tickets have gone. The Wyndham event notice gives the current arrangements.

Treat Town starts at Stockland Point Cook at the same time and runs until 2 pm. Tuesday's activity is Jungle Lion Cookies. Stockland says children can decorate a different treat on each of the five days, with no booking required. The venue is Maker's Space in Point Social, in the Woolworths Quadrant.

No booking does not mean unlimited places. Stockland says it caters for up to 120 children each day and requires a parent or guardian to supervise. If the visit depends on joining a workshop, check the organiser's Treat Town page shortly before travel.

Wednesday: make a full library day without a long session

Point Cook Library has two separate family activities on Wednesday 30 September. Its craft session welcomes children aged four and over from 10.30 am to noon, and the council says the session finishes at 12.30 pm. The event is free at the library on Cheetham Street.

The afternoon Family Fun Club invites families to work on puzzles, colouring, games and building together. Wyndham lists arrivals from 2.30 pm to 4 pm, with the session ending at 4.30 pm. It is aimed at children aged three to 12.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at both library programs. The craft event and Family Fun Club notice carry the exact age and attendance details.

Stockland's Wednesday Treat Town activity is Butterfly Donuts, again scheduled for 11 am to 2 pm. A family could choose one of the library windows and a shopping centre visit, but the programs have different locations and entry conditions. Allow travel time and avoid promising a child a place at a capacity-limited workshop.

The local guide to things to do with kids includes options outside a fixed holiday timetable. It is useful if a session is full or the weather changes an outdoor plan.

The rest of the week at the town centre and library

Stockland has published a distinct Treat Town activity for every remaining day:

• Thursday 1 October: Chocolate Banana Snails.
• Friday 2 October: Marshmallow Cookie Monsters.
• Saturday 3 October: Bun Bears.

Each is listed from 11 am to 2 pm in the same Point Social space. The activities are free, with supervision required and the same stated daily capacity.

For a quieter Friday option, Wyndham's holiday calendar lists drop-in chess at Point Cook Library on 2 October from 2 pm to 3 pm for ages eight and over. The calendar also lists a special Rhyme Time there on Saturday 3 October from 10.15 am to 10.45 am. Check the library holiday calendar for changes to either session.

The Thursday school holiday Courtside event at Stockland has its own place and hours. The town centre events and access report explains its outdoor court location and the current lift works. Treat Town is indoors in the Woolworths Quadrant, so do not head to the court for the decorating workshop.

For children who prefer sport or a longer day

Wyndham's Active Holidays program runs across the spring break and includes Point Cook among its locations. It covers free sports and physical activities, but the council directs families to each individual session for the exact location, age group and booking status.

The Active Holidays guide says most registrations open seven days before a session at 7 am. It also asks families who cannot attend to cancel so a waiting-list place can be offered. Do not treat the program's general 9 am to 6 pm listing as the timetable for a particular Point Cook activity.

The Y Victoria also advertises a spring holiday program running to Friday 2 October at Featherbrook College and Point Cook College, alongside a Truganina site. The council listing gives a registration route and says its lowest advertised daily price has terms and conditions. Check the provider's actual availability and the charge for the child before relying on that price.

Plan the visit around the entry rule

Before setting out, use this short check:

1. Match the child's age to the organiser's stated range.
2. Check whether a ticket, online registration or only a drop-in arrival is required.
3. Confirm the venue, especially for Stockland's Point Social and outdoor court events.
4. Check capacity and supervision rules on the day.

For Point Cook families, the week offers several genuinely local options without a long drive. The most useful choice is the one the child can actually enter: collect a library ticket when required, register for a sport session in time, or arrive at a drop-in workshop knowing that space may be limited.
